Alliance for a Healthy Kansas

Working Together to Close the Coverage Gap

Community Care Network of Kansas is a proud member of the Alliance for a Healthy Kansas, a growing statewide coalition that encourages people and organizations to promote policies aimed at ensuring every Kansan has the opportunity to attain their highest level of health. Members include business leaders, doctors and hospitals, social service and safety net organizations, faith communities, chambers of commerce, health care advocates, and more.

The Health Insurance Coverage Gap

About the Health Insurance Coverage Gap Today, tens of thousands of Kansans find themselves caught in the health insurance coverage gap. Expanding Medicaid would provide coverage for 150,000 Kansans who currently cannot afford health insurance. These are hardworking individuals who earn too much to qualify for the state’s Medicaid program, KanCare, but too little to receive financial assistance for private insurance. As a result, they are left with limited or no options for affordable healthcare coverage.

The Alliance's First Policy Goal

The first policy goal of the Alliance is to expand KanCare (Medicaid). Medicaid expansion will help reduce healthcare costs for everyone, protect Kansans from medical debt, fix current KanCare eligibility limits (which are too low), and strengthen and preserve our rural hospitals.
