Description

SMART is a useful technique to treat caries lesions, especially when your patient population may have trouble with multiple appointments, lacks consistent access to care, or other health issues that interfere with consistent access to care.  Dr. Jeannette MacLean will show us how to implement the effective use of Silver Diamine Fluoride (SDF) and Glass Ionomer Cement (GIC) to halt the caries process and seal out the nutrient source for bacteria to survive under the interim therapeutic restoration.
Learn the principles of case selection, informed consent, treatment planning, and a clinical protocol for SDF. Learn how to restore cavities in a quick, effective, and painless way using SDF and GIC, known as Silver Modified Atraumatic Restorative Treatment (SMART). Find out how offering minimally-invasive options like SDF and SMART can reduce patient trauma, improve patient satisfaction, and reduce clinician stress while improving oral health and increasing access to care.
